Continued Improvement

Monday brought continued improvements for Lee in her quest to de-tether
from Thor and gain her independence. Two more medication pumps were retired and an additional monitoring probe was removed. The progressive downsizing coupled with some strategic rearrangement of her room allowed Lee to regain a bit of autonomy so she is able to get up and around again without assistance for every bathroom trip. She was also excited to rejoin the hall-walker circuit for a few laps with the help of her nurse/Thor caddy.
The second round of nutrition through her new feeding tube at a slightly increased rate went smoothly, so another incremental increase along with a scaling back of her IV nutrition are slated for today. The new bed has been a tremendous blessing and Lee was able to get some quality rest in between the bursts of activity.
The anesthesia team made some adjustments to her abdominal probes that improved the pain control, which has been instrumental in facilitating a transition away from IV medications. This shift to oral and feeding tube based medications is a next critical step in preparing to leave the hospital.
Today's areas of focus and prayer requests are for continued stability of the new feeding tube and successful reductions in the dependence on IV meds and nutrition. We continue to be thankful beyond words for the great care team Lee has been blessed with since her move and for all of your ceaseless prayers.
THANK YOU!
Steve
