Good morning! Lee's not quite up to posting for herself yet but she wants me to say a huge THANK YOU to all for your prayers and notes. She didn't get much sleep last night as they work to make her comfortable but she is getting GREAT care from an incredible group of nurses. Having all of your encouraging notes to read has certainly helped to pass the time and encourage her. She's very talkative and occasionally a little "loopy" with her medicines (she was insistent with the nurse that it was 1983, because New Years isn't for a few weeks) but eventually works her way back to rational answers. I've not figured out how to imbed photos here but I added one to the "gallery'" (with Lee's pre-approval of course).
She's already gotten a "bath" this morning and has been seen by multiple doctors from pain management to the ICU manager. Dr. B. had another surgery early this morning so we haven't seen him yet but will expect him later today when he wraps
up in the O.R. They will be fitting Lee for her cervical collar today and I would expect they may try to get her up and walking. She's already moved from clear to full liquids and is hoping to go quickly to "softs". Her appetite is a good first sign of success since the constant nausea and vomiting has been one of her worst symptoms over the past many months.
They've had to give her some insulin as her blood sugar was elevated after surgery but we're hopeful that the return to a more normal diet and some activity will balance things out today. You can be in continued prayer for her pain management as they increase her activities today. I'll give you another update later in the day.

Praying for smooth pain management, quick healing, and continual encouragement and high spirits for you guys. I'm so grateful for your updates, Steve! What a blessing you two are! So glad to hear the staff is great. I'm sure it's a gift for them to get to be with you guys. It always is for me :)

Dear Steve and Lee: I thought I would wait until today to respond. I know you were buried in an avalanche of messages yesterday and last night. But what an awesome and gracious God we serve. He is all-powerful and His mercies are new each morning. We give Him all thanks and praise for your successful surgery. As many folks from our church gathered to pray for you before and during your surgery we will continue to pray for your recovery and pain management. I prayed for you through the night last night and pray that He will shower you with His great mercy with each new day. Steve, you are the greatest earthly gift a father could hope for his daughter.
