She's Awake!

What previously took 3 days has been accomplished in 30 minutes! The anesthesiologist came out and got me

and said Lee wanted to "say hi", so I followed him down the hall and sure enough, Lee was awake and offered

another "Happy Birthday"! She reported a "pretty bad headache" (to be expected with two rods and six screws)

but otherwise "OK". The anesthesia team had done significant research and that, coupled with/directed by all

your prayers brought the desired and dramatic results.

They are now in the process of getting her transferred to and settled in the Neuro ICU. They will be

establishing her pain control pump and working to get her comfortable, but all is well. Thank you SO much for

your continuous prayers and notes of support throughout the day. We are truly in awe of how well cared for we have been. I will let you know if there are any other significant updates tonight, but am hopeful we will just get

her settled in to rest for an uneventful evening.

Praise God Praise God Praise God! Tears of thankfulness to our Father are flowing.

My scheduled hour of prayer was during the time she finished her surgery and was waking up. I prayed over

the photos (here on your care page) of you, Lee, and the photo of

both sets of parents from Christmas 2005...a

laying on of hands...just with distance. I also did a lot

of thanking God for Lee, for who Steve is to Lee and for

such supportive sets of parents.

I checked for an update during the hour and saw Steve's post two minutes after it was put up about being

halfway there and the next step being waking up from the anesthesia. I got down on my hands and knees and

called out to God. I said Lee's name repeatedly as I felt God leading.

I asked God's Spirit to be with her and

bring her peace during the process of waking up. God is so good to allow us to be a part of praying for each

other!

I feel like it is such a blessing that you would allow us into your lives and the privilege of praying for you.

Thank you.

What a special way for Lee to greet you!!!! What special hearts you both have for each other. I will be praying

as the journey continues. May you all get some rest as you have some relief that the steps in the journey of

surgery and anesthesia is past.

A verse I have been praying on today for all of you and especially Lee is Psalm 139:7- 10

Reading these messages (near 100's) during the day one might say "Lee & Steve are lucky to have so many

friends". But it's far beyond that - for years both of them have given much of themselves to friends &

community. This Tsunami of prayers & support

isn't by way of luck - it's a blessing of love, for who they are.

It's said the Lord works in mysterious ways.
