She's Escaped!

I am excited and thankful to report that Lee had another overall good night (with the exception of your standard hospital interruptions every hour) and was released around lunch time today! She then successfully survived the next test of endurance: her first car ride in New York City traffic (see the latest photo). After making it safely back to our hotel, she was able to find a comfortable position and grab a nap before enjoying her first post-hospital meal (KFC was her choice...I did offer something a bit more glamorous but the Colonel was her craving).
Our plan is to check out tomorrow and meet up with my parents for an RV ride to Pennsylvania. We'll then finish out the trip to Tennessee on Monday, which will accomplish our hope of "home for Christmas". Please be praying for a smooth ride (if you've ever driven or ridden in NY you KNOW that requires a miracle) and comfort for Lee as we head south. I should also take the opportunity here to say how thankful we are for our parents who have been here to help and support us the entire time; I can't imagine having gone through the past two weeks without them.
For those of you in Tennessee, I wanted to let you know that we are working on plans to host a little "get-together" in hopes that we can catch up with many of you we haven't seen in far too long and say thank you in person for all of your prayers and support. We are currently looking at next Sunday afternoon, the 29th, as a likely time but will post finalized details once we reach Knoxville. Hopefully my next post will be celebrating a safe and uneventful arrival "Grandmother's House" for our first Christmas with our families in 7 years! Thank you once again for continuing to follow Lee's "story" and support her with your prayers and encouragement.
Steve

Lee, This message board is such a wonderful way to be in relationship. I have only met you briefly at a BBQ to open up Station 32, but wanted to let you know that in reading your story I was touched by your perspective on faith and strong example. I will be praying for your "dash" and thank you for reminding those around you to be thankful and live our own "dashes" passionately.
You have a new fan and I will be praying for you and your family. Merry Christmas! and I hope this season brings many good memories and Bavarian cream donuts :) Jake Kappert and Family

Well, "Thankful" doesn't even begin to cover it, but we are Thankful that you are doing so well, Lee. We are sooo impressed by your grit in moving forward through these difficult steps in recovery, but not surprised. I mean, you ARE from Tennessee, after all ! Hey, Steve, the custom lifts
for your boots arrived, so "Stretch" still won't have any undue advantage ! Wishing you all the very Best Christmas, and a New Year filled with Health, Happiness, and Love. Jim and Kathy
