I apologize if this post is a little "fuzzy" as I am still feeling the effects of anesthesia. Many of you know I have a metabolic issue that causes me to ultra rapidly process a lot of medications but having to balance that with my history of anesthesia complications. The anesthesiologist said he typically uses 1/2 to 1 bottle of medication to induce sleep. I required 4 bottles. So, a little hungover but wanted to get a post out to update from the day.
I woke up early to be blown away by the hundreds of comments and reactions to my post last night. There are no words that can actually encompass how comforting and overwhelming my heart was. Overflowing with gratefulness as I read each and every comment and looked at the hundreds of names that reacted to the post. Thank you seems very inadequate but know it comes from a full heart.
My surgery went superb. My doctor was able to secure the feeding tube with four clips in the lower small intestine. I cant thank him enough for being willing to stretch his
skills with a procedure he had only learned through phone consults
with my Mayo Clinic team. He was a bit nervous as we all were. There always has to be a "first" so I hope this may help another person with similar feeding tube difficulties. God wastes no experiences in our lives. To help another is a blessing.
Steve got to talk to the doctor via phone since COVID guidelines left my best friend out in the car. Steve said the doctor sounded both a "bit anxious and relieved at
the same time." He said the doctor scared him at first when he started with "now that my heart rate is back to normal." He then went on to explain how everything went. Steve said he used a lot of "hopes" and "thinks" he was successful but also said it was "more challenging" than he expected for his first time doing the procedure so only time and feeding trials will confirm if he's our new local hero. We love our team and visits to the Mayo Clinic but it would be nice to add members to our local medical team.
Speaking of Mayo, 3 weeks from today we will be undergoing my very involved surgery to repair a large tear in the connective tissue in my abdomen. Could I
ask you to begin praying now that I will get stronger and healthier now that I can feed again in preparation for my surgery? We will post from Mayo.
I feel led to wrap up with where I began last night's post with the song "Count Your Many Blessings." The second chorus comes to mind:
"Are you ever burdened with a load of care? Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear? Count your many blessings; ev'ry doubt will fly. And you will be singing as the days go by."
Singing tonight friends ... Singing!

Will keep praying that the tube stays in place and that you get stronger every day in preparation for your next surgery. Lots of love to you and Steve from your Oak Ridge buddies.
